Roseville Family Restaurant has been around for at least 19 years. It was here when I first moved to Roseville and this review will be a little biased. I loved coming here for breakfast or lunch. Only open from 6-2pm everyday. Their bacon is always either crispy or crunchy and makes me feel so nostalgic. When I stopped by today, the original cook wasn't there but his son was. Mind you, it is a family owned business. I'm pretty sure they are all self taught so patrons shouldn't judge them harshly like comparing it to Gordon Ramsey or Food Network. Great diner. Great experience. Great food. That's all it matters. And people who order food to go should expect food-to-go is never as good as eaten at the establishment.

Roseville Family Restaurant is open only for breakfast and lunch. Beside having an extensive breakfast menu, how about a restaurant who's menu not only features a fine array of classic American sandwich, burger and lunch entrées, but a smattering of Chinese dishes as well?
Since I was visiting for breakfast, I zeroed in on the breakfast section, which features all of your favorites, and just about everything a breakfast lover could ask for. When my eyes happened on the chicken fried steak, I couldn't go any further, as I absolutely LOVE chicken fried steak.
Roseville Family Restaurant isn't a fancy eating establishment, but its clean, spacious, very comfortable, and the "diner" decor adds to the rustic atmosphere. On this Wednesday morning - opps... it's Friday and I'm only getting around to post this on Yelp - the restaurant was lightly seated, except for the large group I was with.
I didn't get the name of our server, but he was friendly enough, but he seemed a little quiet and reserved. Perhaps it was our loud group? He also seemed very nervous when I brought out my camera to take a few photos, so I only took a few discreet photos.
My breakfast of Southern-style chicken fried steak, homestyle potatoes, eggs over easy, and my side dish of biscuits and gravy arrived in a very timely manner; about 15 minutes after placing my order, which is fast, considering that I was seated with a rather large group. Our server brought our orders out as fast as he could, which was a nice touch.
The chicken fried steak was fried southern style, with a decent amount of spices, which tasted really delicious. However, the "spiciness" of the meat matched the way it was brought from the kitchen - warm, but not hot like you'd expect. Ditto for the biscuits and gravy.
The homestyle potatoes were on the greasy side, and like the steak, it would have been better if they were warmer. I ordered my eggs over easy, and one egg was cooked perfectly, and the other was hard. Not exactly consistent, but when you average them out, it comes to eggs over medium.
Note the photo of my breakfast I've attatched with this review, and you'll see what I mean.
If I hadn't been with a large group, I most likely would have asked our server to return my plate to the kitchen to heat things up, and to make the eggs right. But, I wasn't happy with the way things were progressing, so I just decided to eat my meal and chat with my friends.
My breakfast wasn't the only one that missed the mark, as a couple members of your group made comments about their food. Perhaps the chef was having a bad day?
If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll most likely notice that I give most restaurants four or five star reviews. I really hate giving any restaurant a less-than-stellar review, but in the case of Roseville Family Restaurant, they missed the mark by serving the steak, biscuits, gravy and potatoes not warm enough. Add a little too much grease to the potatoes, along with one egg over hard, and I'm giving them a solid three stars. Not bad, but not exactly what I was looking for. -

A non-descript, unoriginally titled down home Americana type restaurant off Riverside blvd. What's not to love about the simple attributes this place provides?
You walk in, and yeah, it looks like a typical American breakfast place that could be on any main street, USA....and again, that is not necessarily an insult. Sacramento/Sacramento area tends to be about "food trends" nowadays, so basic is sometimes better.
My fiancee just finished our breakfast this wonderful Saturday morning, and we enjoyed it. I think a 3+, but not quite a four. I ordered the cheese omelette, and substituted American cheese instead of cheddar. It was so gooey....the way the cheese in an omelette should be; melted and gooey. They let you get rice with your breakfast instead of potatoes, which is an option I always love to have. The rice, while good, was unfortunately not fully cooked.....Gordon Ramsay would have sent it back. But still, a tasty omelette with an English muffin and rice and soy sauce is a tasty start to my busy Saturday. She ordered the ham and egg scramble....she enjoyed it, but said it was too big of a portion. I can tell she enjoyed it enough, but it probably was not her "best breakfast she ever had" type response. Oh well.
This is one where, if you want a break from everything and a quiet, basic American breakfast, I would recommend you stop by here. -

Ordered through door dash.
Ordered a large lemonade, large orange juice, hand and egg scramble, and diced potatoes. Potatoes were not fresh diced, left over baked potatoes tossed in some oil? At least that's what it tasted like, soggy at best. Scrambled eggs were not creamy but on the overcooked side.
I questioned the size of the large and thats when I was told they have even smaller cups they give out so beware. The cup size I got is the smallest coffee cup (foam Dixie) that you get at the gas station/ donut shop. It's weird to drink a cold orange juice out of.
I wrote about my overall meal to door dash and within 5 minutes the restaurant was texting and calling me and not in a nice let me make it right way. Blamed the undercooked potatoes/ overcooked eggs on the delivery driver.. not sure how that works. I said I received a large drink because they give out even smaller ones. When I asked for them to send me a picture of the smaller drink they quit responding.
I am kind of bothered with door dash because I did not know they would have had the restaurant call me directly. I could have called the restaurant myself. -

We waited at the entrance and were not seated.
After seating ourselves, we waited for 10 minutes and still was not greeted. The lady seemed to be really preoccupied with other customers. The only time she spoke to us was when we got up to walk out the door. We wont be coming back.
